After a million air miles, my andiamo case was killed by China Eastern airlines and andiamo (the company) was no more. so sad, I loved their roller bags.

so after much research, I decided to try the Briggs and Riley transcend.. I like it.. a lot.

It rolls very well, the handle is a comfortable length which reduces arm strain especially when you clip in second carry on.. it doesn't fight the front weight.

and it fits in most overheads, unless the size police are over zealous.

the case itself doesn't add as much weight as some of the other cases reviewed.

One added advantage, the removable front net- I put my laptop and "quart bag" here as I head to security.. makes it easy to pull out with less fumble and shoulder strain then keeping everything in tote/computer bag. Caution: remove laptop before putting in plane overhead .. if you tip the case the wrong direction, the laptop slides out.

the case is Expandable if you need more room or things "grow" during your travels.

I'm still learning how to pack it tight without over expanding, but that will come with time.

My old Briggs & Riley carry on finally began to look very sad and frayed after years of use and I hated to part with it. But it always was a little heavy and the light weight of this design was appealing. I travel a lot and use this exclusively for business travel. The following comments are based on at least ten trips with it. First, it is very light and the telescoping handle is typical Briggs & Riley: very solid and functional. The construction of the zippers is very solid also. The bag is slightly larger than my last one and on some planes it is a very tight fit in the overhead bin. This is one of those bags that fits better if you push it in handle-first with the wheels toward you. There is a handle between the wheels that will let you pull it out easily. It is not a great bag for a suit although there is a folding garment section that will hold one if you don't mind doing a little restoration at your destination- i.e. steaming it in the bathroom. I think this would be the ideal bag for people traveling light and casual on trips lasting a few days. Not a vacation bag and not an ideal business bag. Of course, B&R make a more expensive bag that would probably meet all my business needs, but it is much heavier.

Great product. My wife overloaded it with purchases from our vacation and we used the expandable zipper that worked very well. The zippers are made from quality materials. I love the compartments as they are obviously well thought out and the exterior is durable, doesn't show dirt and is abrasion resistent. The pull handles as well as the other handles are ergonomically designed and work well. I would consider buying this brand again.

This is a great backpack for carrying around bigger laptops. Fits 16" screens comfortably. Keep in mind it is pretty big and can really carry a load. Also there are a lot, zippers and storage pockets - great for organizing everything you have to carry around. Well-built and well-designed.

I purchased this pack after an extensive search for a replacement bag. I use this bag for work, and carry it every day. I am an architect, so I carry a lot of "stuff" with me every day: Digital camera, a couple calculators, flashlight, a 30 foot retractable steel tape, a 100 foot steel tape, a small first aid kit, screwdrivers, multi-tool, circuit tester, marking tape, lots of pens and pencils, umbrella, several notebooks, an insulated lunch bag, a couple of architectural and engineering scales (about 13" long),11x17 drawings (typically 2-3 projects of 20-50 sheets each), and occasionally larger rolls of drawings (24x36 or 30x42 - sometimes up to 5-6 rolls of 20-50 sheets each), and occasionally my Kindle or a laptop too. I'd say on an average day I carry 15 pounds of gear, and fully loaded, probably carry close to 40. The capacity of this bag is amazing, even though it doesn't look that big unloaded, or partially loaded.

The straps are quite comfortable, although I am of large build and with a heavy winter coat I approach the end of the strap extension. I would expect that this would not be an issue for most people, however. Even when fully loaded, I found this to be one of the most comfortable packs I've tried. The pack has a bottom pouch, where I store some heavy and durable items, like tape measures and the first aid kit. I don't worry so much about these items getting damaged, or even getting wet, but the bottom of the bag isn't particularly level, and the bag tends to slump or tip more than I'd like. I tried other loads in the bottom, and nothing at all, and found the tipping was only exacerbated. The design has a good center of gravity for carrying, just not for sitting on the floor. I carry this bag on the train daily, stow it in my car and under my desk, but it frequently goes to construction sites with me. The lack of extraneous hooks, loops and straps make it much safer and easier for me to carry in construction zones than most packs of similar volume, which is a big plus.

One of the most convenient features was a small zippered pouch that sits just below the top handle. I expect that the designer had in mind that this would be a useful place for a media player... and it probably would be, if I used one. My use is to give me ready access to thumb drives, extra memory cards for my camera and similar small and sensitive electronics. In my previous bag I never had a convenient location like this, and given that I access these items several times every day, it is a real boon.

What would I do differently to improve this model? I'd add a removable waist strap - I typically walk 2-3 miles a day with this pack on, and when fully loaded, I'd like the ability to share the load with my hips more. I like the top pouch so well; it might be nice to have two up there, and one with a sleeved connection to the exterior, so if you wanted to connect ear buds to a media player you wouldn't need to leave the pouch partly open. I'd also consider a flatter bottom, possibly rubberized to improve stability and durability of the bottom of the pack. Would I buy another of these packs, even without these suggested refinements? Absolutely.

This pack is great for students, business people, and day hikers- anyone on the go. The pack has three main compartments, all of which have lots of pockets, dividers, and organizing aids inside. There are also two exterior water bottle pockets, and a bottom zippered compartment which is very convenient. This thing can pack a lot of stuff, and keep everything very well organized. If you can't fit your stuff into this pack, you either need a huge hiking backpack, or a suitcase. For the price, you can't beat it, and my experience with Jansport packs is that they have been very durable and reliable (and they have a lifetime warranty). All the quality and features of much higher priced "professional" packs, at a fraction of the cost. Highly recommended.

Jansport brand is a good one.

This particular bag I thought would have a spongy finish at the bottom which would protect my laptop which is not the case. Could keep more pockets for the small items to carry. The quality is O.K. and the look is pretty awesome. Can handle my 17 inch lappy perfectly. The cost I got it for would justify the product but could improve its basics. My guess for the product is that it could last for a good time easily. Lots of room for a college student to carry some extra stuff(not books on a whole). I would give it 3 and half points out of 5. Lovely bag but with couple of drawbacks.

I recently purchased this backpack, and after using it for a few weeks, I have to say that it's a great pack for those with lots of things to stash. I use it to carry my lunch, book-of-the-week, work materials, etc. as I commute to and from work in the Washington, DC, metro area. I also used it during a recent march/rally in DC, and it was wonderful for toting multiple coats, water bottles, cameras, food items, and more.

I'm also impressed with the shoulder padding, the light weight of the pack itself, and the fact that it's far more water-resistant than my last JanSport backpack. I think the only feature I'd add is a flatter bottom so that I could prop the backpack upright in various situations.

Overall, a great backpack and an excellent value!

This product has plenty of space for most of your toiletry needs. The only issue that I had was that it was not as big as I expected it to be. I can not fit my Vaseline body lotion inside for example, and that was the one and only disappointment with this product. Has a hanging hook that is wonderful and the elastic straps inside do the job just fine, though they may be strained just a tad if you put a rather large bottle in them. Overall this is an excellent product except the space is smaller then expected. Also of note: I use this as a constant case rather then just for travel so I might have set my bar a little high.

The bag is indeed quite good looking, and I've had a number of compliments. But I disagree with the other reviewers who say that the magnetic flap is sufficient. In my opinion, they are completely useless and don't even hold the flap down when the bag is empty, let alone when slightly bulging.

My only other complaint is that the zippers are slightly sticky, but I'm hoping they'll loosen up with age.

Overall, I give it high marks for looks, and medium marks for functionality.

The shoulder strap is made of "seat belt" material and can be quite slippery on a wool coat. If you have a laptop larger than a 15" MacBook Pro, it will not fit in this bag. My daughter bought me one of these for Father's Day 2007 and I've been using it ever since. Although it's a push to get a laptop in it, it does fit. Most of the time I don't carry the laptop, just paperwork and books and personal et ceteras.

I read some earlier reviews that noted the too-small pocket inside, and the fact that both outside end-pockets were stiched down the middle. The manufacturer has responded and in my bag, the inside pockets are both large enought to carry a PDA or a man's wallet. I carry both, one in each pocket. And one outside end pocket is no longer center-stiched, making it large enough to hold my voice recorder or a compact-folding umbrella.

Both the flap zippered pocket and the back zippered pocket can be accessed without opening the bag and that makes it easy to get to car keys, or a cell phone.

The fit and finish are still beautiful 20 months into using it and look to stay so for quite a while. Absolutely wonderful quality!

If I had to pick one niggly, it would be that the strap is not detachable. I would like to throw it into the washing machine from time to time. That's about the only thing I wish was different.

As to price, well...yes, it's quite a bit more than a basic cotton twill bag, percentage-wise. And inflation has kicked in; the current price is about 30% more than my daughter paid in June 2007. But it's still less than three C-notes including shipping and you're going to have it forever. The manufacturer is improving the product and as far as I can tell from other reviewers who have needed it (I haven't) the customer service is great.

HIGHLY recommended -- worth every penny.

I am very pleased with this bag. It is the perfect size for my 13" mac book. I have received multiple compliments on it as well. The leather is thick and of high quality. I have the brown leather one and the color is really nice. The canvas strap is very comfortable and stays put on my shoulder. There is a divider separating the internal compartment in to two sections which is good for keeping things organized. The magnets on the front aren't terribly strong, but this hasn't been a problem for me. I would expect a bag of this quality to cost much more than this. I would definitely recommend this bag.

Nicely put together and it has just about everything you could want in a professional computer bag. The only problem is that the manufacturer claims it fits my computer, a Dell 9300 with 15 inch screen, but it is an extremely tight fit if you want to put it into the space that's set up for it and offers the most protection for your laptop. I eventually got it in there, and the pocket stretched over time, but it took a while, and it's still a bit tight.

A sophisticatedly stylish piece of luggage with clever design details such as a tethered combination lock for the main zipper that can never be lost. The wheels are smooth and quiet. Both the cobblestone color and the fabric shimmer help differentiate it at baggage claim, but the shade is light enough to show scuffing after a couple of check ins. At 22" this is probably the largest size to fit in all overhead compartments and best used exclusively as carry-on. While it does look noticeably larger than a 20", I had no trouble bringing it on board American, Delta, Mexicana, and Continental in the last 6 months. However the nice expandable feature (activated by red zipper pull) that lets you pack an extra 2" of stuff could make it a troublesome fit in smaller overhead compartments.

My only frustration is with the inexplicably impractical luggage tag. It is a stamped aluminum rectangle secured by an elastic tether to a sheath on the suitcase itself. Samsonite provides a cheap looking sticker for it that is really too small to write one's name/address/phone. The aluminum rectangle is smaller than a standard business card, so business travelers can't tape the latter to the former. And because the sheath has its opening facing down, you can't insert your business card and expect it to stay in place.

This Solana line sells at a premium and I have no qualms about my purchase. To Samsonite I say, even though you own American Tourister, try not to make it so obvious that similarly sized models selling for about half the price use the same retractable handle!

I received the larger version of this bag [checked luggage size] for Christmas last year. I have never had a better bag - and I travel frequently. It was roomy, durable, and just had nice features. Now that I do a lot of shorted trips for work - I decided to go with the carry on counter part. I have not used it yet - next week is the maiden voyage - but the design and features are similar to the larger version. Its a nice looking bag, lighweight - I did a "test pack" to make sure it would hold all what I need to take. It does with room to spare. Eagle Creeks life time warranty is a plus - not that I think I will need it - but its nice to know its available. I was so excited with this bag, since it had so many cool places to stash items that I did not need to carry a separate bag for shoes or makeup or hair dryer. However, on the 3rd flight the handle pulled right out of the top on one side. You could push it back in and wiggle it around so it would hook and appear to catch, but the next time you picked it up or the airline picked it up, it's out again. There is no apparent way to access it to try to fix it permanently. With no other handle except for the collapsible rolling handle, you are out of luck! Very disapppointing for an expensive Samsonite piece of luggage. I will never buy Samsonite again.

It is a nice garment bag, although you are paying a bit of change for it. I like the curved zipper so that you can actually pile things on the bottom of the suitcase, close the suitcase easily. There's a great little pocket for shoes at the bottom as well, so you don't dirty up the suits, etc. And if you haven't used a suitcase on 4 wheels, you're missing out! It's just easy to use and travel with.

This is a wonderful bag - I have a couple of others in this line and I love them all. The 360 spinner wheels make them incredibly easy to move, with no weight on my arm. This bag has compartments for shoes and lots of stuff, and it stands alone when it's open so you don't have to lift it to hang in the closet! That is such a convenient feature - I love it! The only small detail I don't like is there is no handle on the bottom to aid in lifting the bag into the car when it's loaded and heavy - otherwise it's great. If you haven't tried the spinner wheels be sure you do before you buy new luggage - they make an incredible difference in how easily the bags move. These roll along beside you straight upright, so there is no weight on your arm and it's amazing how easy they are to handle.

I got this bag as a gift. I needed something for all of my roller derby gear and this seemed perfect. I just got it and so far I am really impressed. It is well made and all of my gear fits inside (although it could be a little bit wider for my skates) including skates, knee pads, elbow pads, wrist guards, helmet and all of the knick knacks I carry with me like spare laces, a towel, Band-Aids etc. My only complaint is that I received the orange bag and it isn't as orange as I expected. Closer to a yellow. That is the only thing and I think I will just cover it with patches.

First, i have to admit that i have not used this on a trip yet (i'm planning too, and i'll write another review later to compare my thoughts afterwards). I've worn it around, and have put various weights in the bag to test it out (from 15-40 lbs). I am very pleased with the pack. It has tons of straps to allow the pack to be as compact as possible so nothing moves around. There are multiple pockets... a spot for every thing you need. It seems like every time i unload and load it back up i find a new strap or a new storage area. The pack was well thought out. Kelty provided mini pouches on the waist belt it can hold about 4 energy bars in each...

Second, I'm 5'7" and 180 LBS. and the pack was probably just the right fit after adjusting every thing to where it needed to be. But, the adjustable frame was slightly past it's limit due to the lack of velcro to hold it (actually i had to add a little piece of duct tape around the strap where the velcro normally was in order to hold it in place... but it did the Job...). The pack is amazingly comfortable. With 40 lbs in it i could jump around and the pack would move right along with me.

It's great! I almost feel like skipping my semester of school in order to go hiking for a few months. I'll be going on spring break so i can test it to it's fullest and then i'll be able to give a better opinion. Right now it's the best pack i ever owned and have used.

This is an amazing backpack that I received as a gift. I plan to use it to hike the Appalachian Trail, and other various places. The backpack has many compartments and great adjustments to ensure comfort. The only complaint I have is that the directions are extremely vague in regards to getting the straps to the correct settings. Other than that it is overall a great backpacking backpack.

I bought this set for a recent trip, and was pleased with how well it was constructed. It even had a nice interior cover that can be zipped over your clothes and includes a sort of compression strap system that was helpful in getting everything packed in there. The collapsible handle is sturdy and locks in place to prevent damage by overly enthusiastic baggage handlers. It also has convenient carry handles on the top and bottom to aid in retrieving the bag from an overhead bin. The smaller bag was perfect as a carry-on. I used it to hold my books, iPod, etc.

Just be aware that if you take advantage of the expansion panel feature on the bag it may not fit in an airline overhead compartment. I had to check the larger bag on the way back because I had opened up the expansion panels and stuffed it full.

I definitely recommend this luggage.

I really like this luggage, I have just use it for a trip to Spain, Florida, Boston and back home and it did perfect. The only complain I have is the location of the straps inside, they are positioned in such a way that I do not use them otherwise my clothes would get rinckled. I had to decide between getting this and the Levitron Ion levitating globe. I decided to go with this because it does not require an AC adapter and is powered by light instead.

Unfortunately, I made the wrong choice. Not only does this globe not levitate like the Levitron Ion does, but it barely rotates as advertised. I placed the globe in the brightest room in my house and it barely worked. It would rotate extremely slowly and then eventually come to a halt.

When it did rotate, it would rotate so slowly that you couldn't even tell it was rotating unless you stared at it real closely. A casual passer-by would never notice that it's rotating so if you're getting it as a conversation piece like I did, don't bother.

If you want a rotating globe, get the newest version of the Levitron Ion. It's about the same price and is a lot cooler.

There are some qualities of this backpack that make it immediately undesirable and I wouldn't have bought it if I saw it in a store.

1- The back is not stiff enough to hold the shape if there are oddly shaped things in the back pack. Now I don't expect to not feel that there is something round in the bag if I have a basketball in there, but I do expect the stiffness of the back to withstand a pair of tennis shoes for example.

2- The zippers are not very good quality. They catch on themselves and I am waiting for the day when they completely break (which I wouldn't be too mad about because then I could justify getting a new backpack).

3- If you have things in the two big compartments, then the front vertical zipper pocket is really weird to use because things fall to the bottom and are squished to the front of the pack. It doesn't work well.

4- The waist belt is pretty much useless- it is there just to have more high speed straps. It doesn't help with lumbar support.

I use this product for school, traveling, and camping. I live in WI but my family is in PA so I like a bag to carry all of my things. Im in school for geology so I take it camping/hiking. The only thing is I wish it had another mesh pocket on the other side, a hook to hang my camera on, and I wish the straps to hold the compartments close together latched with a clip instead of tightening like a seatbelt. Otherwise, the bookbag is great--it has plenty of space for different things. The bottom front pocket has pen holders, and a small pouch for ipod/cellphone. The laptop sleeve holds my Dell 1545- 15.6" with some extra room to spare. I really like the color (Blue Kinfs Plaid). The zippers are kind of hard to open because they get stuck on the flaps that cover them, but I just keeps the flaps folded up. The fabric seperating the compartments isn't as sturdy as Jansport used to make, but its still a good quality bookbag. I hope it lasts me a LONG time!! My wife is in medical school so she has alot of books so she has one also. I rated a 4 because of how Jansport changed the fabric. We were trying to decide between this bag and the Big Student bag, but since this has 2700 cu in VS 2100, we went with the bigger one.

I purchased this about 5 months back and did a 25 day Europe trip with this. I have to say I am very satsfied with this backpack specially for the price that I paid for it. Its very heavy duty (I was carrying almost 16 - 18Kg). From my past experience with a variety of other backpacks, I see a lot of strengths in this one, for example:pockets and straps at convinient locations, easy to carry camping equipment, a very strong back support,light weight etc. Yes, just like others have mentioned, its important that your waist size if not less than 31-32. I was 31.5 when I started the trip and eventually lost weight in the trip, so the waist belt sat a little loose toward the end of my trip. Overall, I would strongly recommend this for anyone who wants a light yet high-performing backpack for multi-purpose use.

This is a very good quality pack that is very comfortable on the trail. The adjustable shoulder harness is a bit loose as all adjustable packs are. It is not a light bag if you are counting ounces this may not be the bag for you. The staps come very long and need to be trimmed. the sleeping bag compartment is a little small for some med to lg sized bags but is sufficient and there is a divider that can be unzipped for one large compartment or to access items on the bottom of the pack without unpacking. But overall very good materials and manufacture make this bag the perfect heavy-duty pack for weekends or several days in the back country.

I bought this bag just before leaving on an 8 day hike through the last 100 miles of the Appalachian Trail and it held its own just fine. The bag isn't great for being waterproof. We got a TON of rain throughout our hike and had to cross numerous rivers, and while some of my clothes got wet it is basically impossible to expect any bag to hold out the degree of water we experienced. Overall I had just the right amount of room for all our food and a couple pairs of clothes. I probably could have used a little more room but seeing as fully packed I was already carrying about 45 lbs I think it was the right size for a longer hike.

Overall I was very pleased with the pack. It had plenty of storage and more than enough clips to hang miscellaneous items from; however, consider bringing dry bags if you are expecting a lot of rain...

I was in need of a general purpose backpack. Not too large, not too small, and one that I would only use a few times a year. I read the reviews on various backpacks sold at Amazon.com, REI, and other sporting goods retailers. Since I wasn't going to use it that much, I couldn't bring myself to spend $100-$300. The feedback on this pack was that it was a solid pack for the money.

Took it camping this past weekend and I have to say that I don't think that you can find a better pack for the money ($88 through Amazon.com). Some of my fellow campers could not believe how nice of a bag it was, and were even more surprised when I told them what I paid for it. The pack is very well built. At 65 liters, it is big enough for a few days worth of backpacking. It is a top-loading drawstring design, with two smaller external compartments. The shoulder straps fit very nice and it was comfortable to use, even fully loaded. There are straps on the top, sides, and bottom to compress the pack once it is loaded.

I would definitely not recommend this for anyone with a 36" or smaller waist due to the size of the waist straps. I have a 38" waist and had the waist straps cinched up almost all the way. It is not the lightest backpack, but since I'm not climbing K-2 anytime soon, it works fine for my needs.

I would have liked the Chipotle color, but not enough to spend an extra $20-$30.

I have just received my Kelty Red Cloud 6650 and was quite impressed. I ordered this bag based on my past experience with my brother's 3 year old Red Cloud. I was suprised to find that the new model has many more features that I was not expecting. Among those are the improved side pockets on the main bag, as well as the small mesh pockets on the waist belt. These pockets have proved to be quite handy for GPS, Cell phone, and other small frequently used items while hiking. The frame has been improved and is adjustable for different size torsos. The bag is slightly heavier than I expected, but I hope that extra weight will show in its durability. The first trip with this backpack will be in a few weeks and I intend to make a follow up review once I've had a chance to put it through the paces. So far I am very happy with this bag.

I've used this bag for 3 to 6 day backpacks, often with a heavy load (60 - 70 pounds). It is very adjustable/comfortable, and has the features that I am looking for: outside water bottle pockets, side pockets (for stuff I use during a hike), a removable and large fanny pack (the top compartment), a large top compartment (also for stuff I use on the hike, like maps, jacket, gloves, and fleece cap). Few backpacks have these features anymore, at any price. The cons are few, and are the reason it doesn't receive a rating of 5: heavier than I'd like, and mine has been damage-prone. Currently, it has 3 failure points: 2 holes in the bottom, one side pocket zipper is broken, and both mesh water bottle pockets have massive tears in them. I sent it back to Kelty for them to repair, and all 3 repairs failed almost immediately on the first time I used the pack after repair.

"High Sierra Swerve" 2010-01-17

Purchased this pack last week as I was looking for an all purpose pack. The pack has multiple compartments which works well when carrying books or binders. Front pocket has segregated areas which allows for storing small items such as pens, calculator energy bars etc....

Pocket above is larger / deeper and has room enough for light clothing or two books. There are two additional larger compartments separated by a nylon barrier. The compartments are deep but not wide. The back compartment does have a place for a laptop w/ a secure nylon / plastic snap clip. The compartments are fine for storing books, binders, laptop, but not much more. There is a small pocket on top of the pack for loose change, cell phone etc... The pack appears well constructed and is comfortable to wear. The padding on the back and straps is certainly adequate. There are water bottle pockets are both sides that work well.

Unfortunately the pack does not supply enough room if you are using it for storing multiple items of clothing or perhaps gym equipment (perfect push ups / rolling wheel). This pack is really designed for the student. If you moderately fill the first two smaller compartments, it really restricts the amount of space for the larger compartments.

I ordered the Navy and Gray which is a very nice color combo. I purchased this pack from Amazon and was pleased w/ the quick delivery.

Would suggest that High Sierra use Velcro as a fastening aid to secure inside small pockets.

I bought this backpack for highschool(heavy bookloads uncomfortable in my other backpack) and occasional recreational use. This Backpack is absolutely great. The straps really are comfortable and dont dig into your shoulders. There is space galore, i dont know what to do with all of it so i usually use the side straps to compress it. The top handle also has that mesh material on it and is great because it too doesnt dig into your hands, even with a full load. I do carry my laptop on it on occasion and it is pretty good for that too.

In terms of book carrying it can hold 3-4 1 inch binders in the first pocket with a small book, and another two or three books in the second pocket. It has a pencil and assorted organizers in the last pocket and also has a detachable key clip,not sure what its called (like the kind they have in a shopping cart). I have no complaints with it at all. Had it almost 4 months and no problems. Great buy.

This backpack has already lasted through 1 1/2 school years with my teen son. That is an absolute miracle! It is still in great shape, except where he is dragging it on the floor and ground it is getting a little scuffed up on the bottom. He carries all of his highschool textbooks etc. so he doesn't have to use his locker. It is extremely heavy with all of that in it and I know that is not good for his back but that is his choice. He has truly tested this bag. The straps are nice and cushioned and all of the zippers are working and in good shape. This bag cost us a little more but was well worth it especially when you consider that we used it for 2 school years.

"Versatile and tough luggage" 2009-10-14

Our family now owns one of these per person, including one previous generation model that must be five years old by now. They have proven themselves to be versatile, easy to operate, stable even on bad surfaces and very tough. We use them with Eagle Creek's packing system most of the time to organize the contents better. There are a few downsides to this sort of luggage to be aware of. Many modes of transportation are set up for ordinary luggage, so it might be hard to get the trunk into the allotted spaces. This has never been a major problem, but I've noticed it while on various trains in Switzerland and Germany. Flights have no problem with the size, but here you have to be conscious that the trunk can pack more that you may have weight allowance. This is one of the reasons we now have one per family member: so that we can distribute the weight. Lastly, carrying the trunk is not as convenient as ordinary luggage, however with all the handles and grips it is is easy to lift it for short distances. Luckily, modern airports and stations are built with few stairs.

On the upside, even the oldest trunk we have has not broken once. The wheels still work just as well as new. All the corners show abrasion through airport mistreatment, but nothing has broken or ripped. The latest generation trunk has been built with stronger feeling material even though the previous generation also did the trick.

We also discovered that we can fit two of these trunks side-by-side in our Mini Clubman so we can use the rather limited space in the Clubman optimally.

This is a good replacement for my current 10yr old bag which was slightly taller due to the wheels and handle being on the outside and not protruding into the bag. I wanted a bag that would fit in the over compartments without having to turn it sideways therefore taking up to spots. I purchase this bag over the skyway sigma due to seeing that bag in person and let me say it is a very small 22" bag. I didn't get this from Amazon got it fom the military PX for 49$ minus 15$ rebate glad I did because I would have brought the Sigma until a saw it in person. This is a nice sturdy bag well worth the money I paid for it(34$) which is less than half the price on Amazon. Out of all the bags I looked at ranging in price from 49$ to 160$ this was one of the biggest. The only thing I don't like is how the wheels and handle takes away from the space in the bag but I guess all modern bags are built like this.

Originally I thought this bag might be a bit too big as I am only a day hiker. But after using it for over 70 miles of hiking I can truly say that if it were any smaller I would have been disappointed. It holds 2 water bottles, a jacket, and snacks with still the outside pocket to hold maps, etc. I bought the currant red - great color - I like the contrasting yellow lining - makes things easier to find. I do wish the zipper cords were also yellow - they tend to 'hide', but I can easily fix that myself by tying on additional bright cord. The pack sits very comfortably on the lower back - no straps pulling on my shoulders ( I hate that!) and has lots of adjustable straps to get the fit just right. Backpack style straps are available as an add-on if you want that kind of fit. The bag also comes with a detachable shoulder strap and built in handles at the top of the bag - great design.

Overall, a very versatile pack that gets lots and lots of use. I am a person who researches things to 'death' before buying them, this was a GREAT purchase.

This is the best lumbar pack I've ever Had

I use it primarily for knocking around town with my camera gear or day hikes with food/water/stove and a few extras and it works great for both.

The capacity is just right. Not to big like some I've seen where you might as well add backpack straps. Not to small, it can hold what I need it to.

Features

I have a couple of camelbacks but I was looking for something a little faster and cooler that is easier to access. With the Camelback if I want to carry something other than water I have to unsling it to get at it. I have small kids so I frequently have their milk or sippy cups and having to unsling it whenever they want a drink is a pain. But with this the side mesh pockets can hold 2x 20oz bottles and make access a breeze.

The fact that it goes on the waist instead of the back is also a big plus. I live in Texas and the summers are hot and humid. So not having something strapped on my back makes life a little cooler.

Access to what you need is easy, its not a long tube like the camelback. Of course you can't hold as much. But if your not taking that much you don't have to fish around as much with the same kit to find something.

The all important Strap

The strap is one of the best parts, its amazingly useful. When you have it loaded up putting it on your waist can be tricky since it sags a bit. Trying to get it on the right spot and clicked up can be challenging. But the strap makes it easy, slip the strap over one shoulder to take up the weight and slack, snap the belt, synch it up and slide the strap off and your ready to go.

Also when you access stuff the strap is great, if your under load the main body of the unit is under compression (keeps it tight and stable) but this can make it hard to pull things out. Slip up the strap, take off the load and unsnap the belt and its easy to go fishing.

When you need to run fast the unit and flop up and down making it uncomfortable, just bring the strap up and take some weight off and you can run without a problem.

Or you can just use the strap and stow the waist belt (it slides in underneath the lumbar support) and use it as a bag. The strap pad is quite good.

If straps are not your thing you can detach it and just go with the pack. I was worried at first the strap might get in the way but I've never had problems and its always there when I need it.

Pockets Everywhere

This pack has a lot of pockets. There is of course the main pocket which is shaped and kind of rectangular, this is where most of your business goes. Attached to the inside front is an envelop sized zipper pocket, useful for loose change, batteries and other small knickknacks.

In the front is another pocket, though if you've got the main section loaded up and strapped down this pocket isn't very useful. Its not bellowed or anything so the main support pulls on it. There is a plastic key clip inside. I use it for a mini LED flashlight.

In the back you have your lumbar pad, nice mesh coated foam. It has a pass thorough behind it from left to right on the sides. This is where you would stow the waist belt if you were not using it.

Then behind that is another pocket, open at the top that runs the height of the pack. Useful for large flat things that stick out like maps or pamphlets. Not really big enough for a book. You could fit a DVD case in but that would be pushing it.

The side mesh pockets just make the unit, there not as deep as I'd like but I've gone up to 20oz gatoraide bottles and never lost one.

A normal around the town load for me will be 2x 20oz bottles, a heavy pro F2.8 lens, Flash an extra small SLR body or point and shoot camera, table tripod, extra batteries, 50mm lens, remote triggers, a few snacks and knickknacks. It handles it all very well.

Out in the woods I might have the 2x 20 oz bottles, water, mini stove (snowpeak), titanium pot, spoon and some freeze dried food and munchies for the day and maybe my SLR or a flash. Getting things out can sometimes be tricky but it works.

If I need a jacket or a shirt I'll have it strapped to the outside as long as its light. The further out you hang something the more you notice it.

Belts and Handles and Mounting Points

The waist belt is broad and comfortable, the inside is mesh coated. It has a good balance of stiffness and flexibility. It wraps around your hips pretty well and distributes the load well. It has 2 stablizing straps on each side to get your load nice and balanced. There is a small plastic clip on a nylon strap in the middle. The clip is to small for much except running 3/4 inch webbing through it, but throw a carabeener on the stap and you've got more utility.

The buckle is the large 50mm snap type, easy to operate, works well. You can tighten the belt from either side.

On the bottom are two more stabilizing straps, so you can shrink or tighten the bottom if need be. I've found if you full extend them you can use them to hold thinks like a therma rest, a tarp or an umbrella. Pretty handy. Also two more strap loops

On the front is a shock cord webbing. Does a good job of holding a jacket and still giving easy access to the main compartment.

On the top are two carry handles, very nice touch, use them a lot.

Construction

All the external zippers have nice yellow nylon pull ties with rubber coated ends on them. Easy to see, easy to use.

The external bag is high quality condura like nylon, the inner lining is light weight ripstop. Its double sewn in all the critical places.

A note on color

I originally bought this bag in black, returned it and got the red bag. My wife though it more attractive but more importantly was finding things. You had black straps and black zippers on a black bag. It just all blended together and I found myself having to hunt for openings and straps more than I wanted to.

The only "problems" I have with the bag really isn't a flaw of the design, but rather a limitations. If you have it all tightened up it can be hard to pull things out, most of the time you have to un-strap the belt to get some slack. Also when you adjust the load you often have to adjust some of the straps to snug it back up again or loosen it up again to fit right. Be mindful of that and you won't have a problem.

Also if you load it up too much it can sag and be not as comfortable. You'll have to figure your exact point (it depends on how well the belt rides on you). For me (I'm thin) I can carry a decent load and still be fine.

So to summarize

Pros-

Great design, wonderful strap and pockets, great flexibility with adjustments and mounting points.

Cons-

None other than watch your configuration

Conclusion-

A great bag, not as big or as high capacity as my camelbacks but more useful in most conditions.

I'm a high school student so my typical backpack load ranges from 30 lbs to 50 lbs. Before this bag I had the Wasabi version, which I was very happy with until it started ripping after three years of using it. When I was deciding on a bag, I thought this would be pretty cool because it looks great and on the Jansport website it says the size is about the same as my old one. When I recieved it though it seemed smaller than my old one and even pictures of it on the site. If you want your bag to carry a ton for you, this might be too small. Bottom line: it's a great bag - but it's not big enough.

I bought this because I had a similar Kenneth Cole reaction case that was finally ready to be retired after about 10 years. Note that this case is "buff", not shiny.

Only dissapointment was that the over-the-shoulder strap was not leather: it's mostly cloth, with one piece of cushioned leather (for comfort when it sits on your shoulder). I think this cheapens the look a bit.

Other than that, good looking. 3 separate sections inside. I keep my laptop (fairly large: an IBM Thinkpad T42) in one, paperwork in the second, and pens, phones, other small stuff in the front. Also has a separate inside zippered compartment, and an outer compartment (slip a newspaper into it) in the back.

I really liked the design of this luggage and the size etc was perfect, until the cheaply made part in the handle broke with just a little use. It has a poorly designed part in the handle that activates the telescope portion of the handle that can break with just normal use in a fairly short time then the telescopic handle will not go up or down.

"Great bag" 2010-01-30

I have a number of these bags now and like them all. Size, durability and dual compartment make this a no brainer when it comes to buying a reliable bag. I have used these to travel overseas and the drop bottom compartment is a must have feature if you are packing shoes, gear etc. and you want to keep them separated from your nicer clothes. It's a sturdy bag and for the price that I got for (just over $100), it's a no brainer to buy it. Easy to recognize too when traveling (unless you get the black one). I'd recommend this bag for travelers. I have used every aspect of it (including the backpack feature) and I can say that it is made so that it can be transported in practically every way you would need to depending on where you travel. No need to try to roll it up the cobblestone streets of Rome when you can temporarily use the backpack. Makes all the difference, even if it's only 10 minutes. You'll be happy you had that feature. Then put it back down and let her roll with you.

My wife and I took this on a cruise recently and loved it.

The features that I like about this duffle:

1) It stands on its own even when fully loaded

2) It has a separate drop bottom either for folded clothes, or shoes.

3) You can simply unzip the separator to have one huge compartment if needed.

4) It has large wheels that wheel smoothly.

5) A separate zippered compartment on top for easy access.

6) Collapses down for easy under-the-bed storage

7) Fits a lot of stuff without overpacking...we came in at around 48 lbs fully loaded.

The only areas I would improve are:

1) There are two settings for the telescopic handle (short and long) so you have to jerk the handle past the "short" setting every time which is a little annoying. I am 6'2" and the "long" setting doesn't seem to be long enough in my opinion.

2) The velcro covered handle for the straps on the top isn't big enough and comes apart easily .

This duffle is even better than I had hoped! I travel to different settings: camps, college campuses, hotels, etc in a variety of vehicles. The bag is great for using in a car, taking on a bus, the train, or plane. However, it is very easy to load it to over weight, without even filling it!

The bag is extremely well laid out. The drop bottom's divider is great for separating shoes from clothing. The straps in the bottom are actually usable, unlike some other luggage I have owned. The top area is enormous by itself, even without using the bottom. I have not opened the separator to make one gigantic bag yet, but it would do so very easily and efficiently.

The wheels are very smooth; held up well over the rock and gravel paths at a camp, as well! Once expanded, the bag's bottom is well constructed; the flip-up support makes it sturdy and allows the bag to stand up as well as it did un-expanded. That was a major selling point for me, that it could stand up when fully packed. The tie-down straps on the side appear just for show at first, but when we had it fully packed while expanded, the straps actually helped to snug up areas that would have sagged otherwise.

At first, this duffle might look like it is only for show, but it is truly made for go! I have had four people that I work with ask about the bag and where I got it. This bag was a great deal for the price!

The bag was convenient to use, and the ability to strap it onto my back was very helpful in small hotels in Amsterdam and Belgium where our room was up several flights of stairs. The backpack straps were not particularly comfortable for me, being set a little too close together for my shoulders, so it may not work for everyone on longer hauls. The wheels and handle were sturdy enough for longer drags though.

Two minor downsides to the bag:

1. The green piping along the seams is already looking a bit warn. The bag material is holding up great, but the decorative piping has gotten a bit shaggy in spots.

2. Even without expanding the bag to it's full size, it's easy to go overweight for airline travel. We traveled with the duffel and a small case. I moved the heavy stuff into the smaller case, and the duffel still weighed 46lbs. It would be very easy to overpack with this rather huge bag and get yourself a heavy bag fee. ($150 for international)

Glad I bought this. It was very well suited for this trip, and doesn't look like the 200 black bags you normally find on the carousel.

I just took this bag to hawaii with more than enough cloths and stuff to last me 2 weeks. I still had loads of room for all the stuff I bought. It can easily hold more than the 50 lb. weight limit for most airlines. Not to mention that its rough and tough. this thing is heavy duty. I cant wait to use it again.

I wanted a light and durable carry-on. I am very pleased with the Travelpro 20". It is roomy and easy to open and pack, a number of useful outside pockets and a strap outside to secure a smaller case. I have found it lighter than other carry-ons, and nicely contoured to fit underseat or overhead, even in the smaller commuter planes. The retractable handle adjusts to several lengths and can be opened/closed with one hand. The wheels are shielded and roll over small sidewalk seams and escalator steps without scuffing the case. In mant jets, it is possible to roll the case down the aisle. The zippers seem well-made and don't hang up on the corners. Altogether a well-made piece of luggage.

Ordered the High Sierra Cirque 30 backpack off Amazon a couple weeks ago... been using it for about a week, and I love it. It's about as close to perfect as I could find. I'm one of those particular people who will shop something to death before I commit to buying anything, and this bag was no exception. It's got plenty of room in both compartments for everything I need to carry: I carry a couple of books for school in the large compartment, along with my clothes for the gym and my toiletries. I keep my gym shoes in the smaller front compartment so they don't get my clothes dirty. This also keeps the smelly gym shoes from stinking up my clothes. Everything fits perfectly. The best part of this bag though is the straps. The nicely padded back straps have dual adjustment: one to raise the pack higher on your back, and one to tighten the bag to your back. The padded waste strap is also key for keeping the bag high and tight to your back. As anyone who enjoys hiking knows, keeping the bag high and tight to your back is key to reducing fatigue, and it's also better for your back. This bag just feels so comfortable on my back I don't even really notice it's there. And I also run a lot with the bag on, and it doesn't move at all, it stays right where it should. The compression straps on either side help a lot with keeping everything from shaking around while you run, too. I've only had the bag for a week, so I can't honestly speak to it's durability, but it seems to be made just as well as my $500 mountain climbing back pack, so I'm sure it will last. Everything is double stitched and reinforced, and the materials seem top-notch. Zippers seem very strong, and the zippers each have hoods to keep rain out. Mesh bottle pouches are deep enough that bottles stay in place. Bag just fits into a gym 1/2 locker. Lots of thoughtful little extra touches.

I got this backpack after seeing the positive reviews - it's a good buy for the price. I like that I can use it for hiking, school, travel, etc. It definitely doesn't have a lot of pockets inside but I've found it relatively easy to organize my stuff anyway. I wish there was a little more padding at the bottom of the bigger pocket so that I'd feel more comfortable putting my laptop there for school but so far both laptop and computer are going well together. The item is a bit "strappy" - lots of straps sticking out sometimes - but those come in handy when hiking --- hold stuff in, hook stuff in place, etc.

I bought this for hauling groceries on 2 mile market trips. It is sturdy and well sewn. The style is attractive. I reserve further approval because the straps meant to add more stability and support for heavier loads are in the wrong place for an average woman.

Specifically, the sternum strap falls directly across the bust in a way that is both painful and potentially injurious. I am 5'6" and of very average build. Looking for an adjustment, I found no way around the unfortunate strap placement. The sternum strap needs to be a few inches lower or higher to be of any use to a woman. I seriously doubt any women will be able to fasten these straps without having the same issue. This area is not meant to bear a weight!

I am disappointed that the description does not mention that it really is not a gender-neutral pack. I wanted to be able to use the extra straps in order to distribute and secure heavier loads. Since the sternum strap is useless, I cannot ever get the full and intended benefit of the design. The reason I purchased this model was to have the weight more distributed over the body, otherwise, I would have skipped the extra flaps and straps for a more streamlined design. I will look very closely at my next pack before buying this feature again.

"Absolutely fabulous world traveler suitcase" 2010-01-02

One note about this review: It appears that since I bought my Tarmac 25 bag, Eagle Creek has tweaked this bag a little. The newer ones have an easier to use add-a-bag strap connection, a built-in shoe compartment, and perhaps a slightly different kind of fabric in some parts. However, I've seen the newest version of this bag in retail stores and I believe that this review of the earlier version of this bag is valid and useful, because the bag I'm seeing in stores seems to be nearly the same as the bag I own. It doesn't seem to have been radically re-designed, and they didn't change the name of the product.

I've had my Eagle Creek Tarmac 25 bag, in the Palm Green color, for three years. I gulped a bit at the prices of the Eagle Creek luggage, but I was heading out for a month-long tour of Australia, New Zealand and Fiji. The itinerary included ten commercial flights, meaning ten opportunities for my one allowed checked bag to be bounced, jounced, dropped and smashed while out of my sight. I just didn't want to risk having a cheap suitcase fall apart while I was on tour on the other side of the world. As noted, the tour company allowed us one checked bag (with strict size and weight limits) and one carry-on which because we'd be on small planes and buses, couldn't be the typical wheeled 22-inch US domestic carry-on type. So I got this bag and the Eagle Creek Travel Gear Small 08 Tarmac Flight Bag (or the 2007 version thereof, not sure if the "08" designation makes any difference except type of nylon).

This bag not only took the big Down Under tour in stride, it's since been to Peru (where a Lan Peru aircraft cargo hatch door was slammed down on it, broke the TSA lock but the bag is unscathed except for a zipper pull tag that was easy to replace, didn't hurt the zipper itself), Thailand, London and various places in the USA. it still looks great, and the gray and green colors make it a little easier to spot on the baggage claim carousels than the universal black. Someone said this line of luggage looks too "backpack-like" for them, but I like it.

At the time I was shopping for it, there weren't as many lightweight luggage choices as there are now that US airlines are more aggressive in enforcing their luggage weight limits. But if I had it to do over again, I'd still buy this bag. It's a quality item in all respects. It's lightweight but very sturdy.

I like the inner compartment organization. I've packed using packing cubes (the Eagle Creek and eBags brands), and sometimes a packing folder - and sometimes without those aids. But the inner compartments and the snug-down straps in the main compartment allow for packing my stuff securely. The bag when empty and when properly packed is very stable and easy to maneuver on its wheels.

The wheels: they are not the cheap-looking little smooth plastic wheels I see on so many bags. These are large rubber wheels, with treads. They are well-placed, at the sides of the bag, and the whole area is reinforced with hard plastic so that you can wheel this thing up and down stairs without ripping the fabric. I've gotten used to wheeling my Eagle Creek bag smoothly along at a good pace, while people around me with other kinds of rolling bags, are fighting to keep theirs from tipping over or getting stuck. The flight bag I mentioned above, slips over the handle of this bag and together they make a nice single unit that's easy to roll along. I'm not sure I'd want to take the London Underground between Heathrow airport and my hotel, with less stable and easy to manage rolling luggage. But I've done it with this bag and its matching flight bag, no worries.

I took this bag on an 8 day trip and was able to fit all my stuff in there pretty handily. The pockets on the inside flap allow you to open the bag without everything falling everywhere each time you open it. If you haven't bought new luggage recently, you'll be surprised how light this one is. Get one of the colored bags, it definitely stands out on the luggage carousel.

I wish the reviews mentioning the weight were posted before I purchased this. If I had noticed how heavy it was, I probably would have gone for the 26 instead of the 29.

It's not a bad suitcase. It's quite large, but it glides on its wheels fairly effortlessly. You'll need those wheels though, because the suitcase itself is very heavy. This is listed at around 18 pounds and most airlines cap weight at 50, so you've already used up 2/5ths of your weight allowance on the bag itself.

The materials and such are adequate for a cheaper suitcase, although the buckle strap is useless since it does not cinch or tighten, and just hangs loose. I'll update this review after I fly with the suitcase in a week or so.

This is an excellent piece of luggage. If you are looking for durability and functionality, I would suggest this suitcase. I loved being able to just push it through the airport with ease. However, it is heavy, weighing about 15 pounds on it's own. With the 50 pound weight limit that most airlines have, you won't be able to pack this full without paying extra! We didn't even get it 3/4 full before we hit 50 pounds. We will be buying another of this exact suitcase, except we are going to go with the 26".

We had very specific requirements for a suitcase. It had to be hard-sided to withstand rough handling, it needed to be fairly big to accommodate enough for a family of 3 for a week, and it had to have a TSA lock, we travel through a lot of airports where you do not want your suitcase unlocked. It meets all those requirements. Delivery was efficient, although the only downside was that there were no instructions included on how to set the lock combination code, and we had to look it up online. No big deal, but you expect better from Samsonite.

I bought this bag for a hiking trip in Switzerland. I was able to get the collapsible hiking poles in the bottom of the bag, to save time at security, and had room for a weeks worth of clothes for shopping, sight-seeing and hiking, all of my toiletries (and there were lots of those), hairdryer, souvenirs...you name it. Lots of room inside. This and a backpack are all you'll need. Very pretty and not many of this color out there...a big plus at the baggage carousel (and LL Bean has a backpack almost the same identical color!) Rolls very easily. I got this bag specifically for a month long trip to the Pacific NW and then North to Alaska. I traveled by plane, train, ship, rental car, bus, hospitality van, subway, and even a three block walk in downtown Chicago. It took a little getting used to all the compartments but as time went by they each came in handy for different things, especially the waterproof one near the handle. When I got home and unpacked everything the bag was still in pristine condition, zippers still running smooth, cover not torn up (cleans easily), wheels still working really well. The bag is very practical - it's small, but perfect for papers/diary a laptop and pens/cards/etc. The handle is useful, it's sturdy and it looks sleek.

Only two disadvantages is that the leather damages quickly (the colour only, not the actual leather) and looks like it's painted on it, and the strap is 'too' good on your shoulder, meaning it won't move up and down easily if you know what I mean. If you don't move your bag, it's perfect though. I would buy it again since it was a good bargain. Amazon was cheapest and delivery was good and fast.

As far as man-purses go, this one is great... I was looking for something that looks professional and also functional, and this is it.

The leather is superb... it is incredibly soft, and the dark brown color (what I purchased) is perfect. Somebody else reviewed that the leather "bleeds" the brown color onto their clothes... they must have had a lemon, because mine does not.

I have used it daily for about a month, now, and it is durable, and seems to look better with age, as most nice leather does...

I was surprised how much can fit into these little cubes. I can't get over how much easier it is to pack with these. I travel several times a year and don't know how I went so long without them. I roll up all my tops into one, underwear/bras in another, and bottoms in the biggest one. It makes finding what I want very easy. The best part is when I have to get something in my suitcase I'm not digging through everything. Instead of 10 shirts, I'm moving aside one bag. I used these with the Rick Steves Convertible Carry On and it was a perfect combination. I used the two smaller cubes for a week's worth of socks, underwear, and t-shirts and the larger cube for pants, sweaters, and other long-sleeved shirts.

Pros:

- It give's you a goal of fitting x amount of clothes into them to ensure that you have room for other items like toiletries, an extra pair of shoes, or souvenirs.

- In the event that your bag gets a thorough search at security, it's easier to get everything back in.

- When repacking for the trip home, they help you ensure that everything takes up the same amount of space.

- If you have a Rick Steves carry-on-sized bag (Convertible Carry-On, Back Door, Roll-Aboard, etc.), the dimensions of these cubes are more than likely ideal for it.

Cons:

- For the sake of coming up with a con, I'll say that the ends of the sections of mesh can get caught rather easily in the zippers.

I've only used these a few times, so I can't speak for the durability.

I just ordered these almost at the last minute to use on a 3 day trip to a business conference.

I wanted to pack very light and very efficiently with minimal delays (and annoyance) at the airport, and boy, am I glad I ordered these!

I had also ordered (from QVC) the Travelon 14" Wheeled Carry-On and knew that I was going to want to be able to have my items easily accessible but also not have them rummaged through too much by security because you know how sometimes what goes in once doesn't necessarily go back in again! (LOL)

Anyway, the two items could not have worked more perfectly together and I highly recommend them. It made all that part of the trip very pleasant and stress free, plus kept everything neat and it its place in the hotel room (which I shared with others).

I will use these again and again and order more sets.

At first I thought it was small (not deep enough), but the nice expansion and hidden pouches and compartments changed that thought.

On the opening part there's a place to put suits or coats that is very useful and really works well.

The wheels are nice, the whole luggage is robust and survived the travel US - Canada - Brazil without a scratch and looking good as it does.

About the weight, it fits my needs nicely. For its robustness and size it's actually lightweight.

Everybody else that reviewed this and liked it was right. This bad boy went from Md.to New York to four places in Italy and back. Sometimes in a plane and others in cars and trains. It got thrown all over the place.

The wheels worked like a charm and still do. All straps are in great shape. I crammed more (you know what) in this bag than I needed and still made the 50lb. limit for the airline.

This was my first High Sierra purchase. I recently borrowed on from a friend for my vacay back to the states. It was awesome. This bag is very sterdy, and handles being thrown out of helicopters rather well. The fact that it can roll in airports, and then be put on like a back pack for walking up stairs and through rocks and sand is perfect.

The shipping was outstanding. The estimated date that I was to recieve the bag was a little too far, and I needed it within the week and a half of the purchase. I contacted the people at luggage guru, and they were able to ship it to me within the first day or two of my purchase. It got to me the 2 days before I was supposed to leave. I ordered it on the 28th of February and I recieved it on the 10th of March, which sounds like a longer time than needed, but I was in Iraq. Mail normally takes 2-3 weeks to get out there to us, so that shows you how much these guys were willing to try to work with my request.

Overall, great product from a great company with an awesome group of people to see that it got to me in a very timely manner.

My old 20 inch weighed too much, so after a lot of research, I got this one. It really is light - even when full. I am *not* strong, but even packed to overflowing, I was able to put this in the overhead compartment. It easily held enough clothes for a 5 day trip including a rain coat and sweat shirt.

Like all Eagle Creek luggage, packing is a dream - I love the roomy inside the upper flap compartments, the larger one really keeps ironed things from getting all wrinkled. The other thing I learned the hard way - never get wheeled luggage that doesn't have the wheels at the very ends of the sides. While the old 20" would always get wobbly (even on flat ground), this one can be taken down steps without problem.

I purchased this after much searching for the perfect product. Needed something to carry EVERYTHING for a 10-day trip to China. I did not want to bother with a full-sized suitcase. When I first saw it, I was sure everything would not fit but it did. Yes, I packed light but was still able to fit everything necessary including four pairs of pants, six tops, first aid supplies, toiletries, shoes, and more. Great zippered (netted) compartments kept everything visible and totally organized. Shoes were zipped out of the way of everything else in their own special compartment. The carry-on was unbelievably light weight and rolled very easily. Several handles besides the pull-out made it a breeze to pick up and go as needed. I had to navigate two train stations that had lots of steps. The item was easy to pick up and/or bumped up or down the steps with equal ease -- no twisting or turning. It rolled down the airplane aisle with ease and was also easy to pick up and stow in the overhead compartments...no pushing or shoving necessary and I did not fear dropping it on my head (or someone else's) as I lifted it up. It really is the perfect product. I am delighted with every aspect of this purchase.

Few month ago I asked a fellow motorcycle rider about a bag he was carrying - he said timbuk2. He liked it a lot, however, he said, his was too big and the laptop was kinda all over the place.

So I paid a little extra and got the one that was made to carry a laptop.

Since I work in downtown, I ethier ride my motorcycle or Bart (train). This bag is great for either - it's easy on/off and stays with you at 80 MPH+.

The space is adequate for your laptop, gym gear and a water bottle, however I wouldn't call this bag large -it's just the right size.

If you are on the go and want something that looks good within a $100 budget - Get It - that's my verdict.

One of the selling points (for me) was that the bag is waterproof. It seems that the fabric is, but there's no zipper or anything to seal it tightly. In principle, water could flow into the open holes on the two ends of the bag (near the straps), though the weight of the bag's contents tends to close it tight in practice. The computer and inner pouch are safely protected from falling water by being in the center of the main flap, but the main compartment might just fill up with water in a heavy downpour.

There's no lack of pockets within pockets on the inside, but I'm a little disappointed that it doesn't have (unprotected) pockets on the outside, where I like to put ID badges for easy retrieval.

Also, a buyer should know that while the main flap can be closed with clips (as seen in the picture), there's also a lot of velcro holding it down. I haven't decided whether this is a good thing or not--- velcro has a limited lifetime and can be loud to open in meetings, but it does make the flap want to stay down, so I don't need to bother clipping it all the time. If I decide to remove the velcro, I'll need to do it with a seam-ripper.

The way that it changes shape under weight (closing the open holes near the straps like parted lips) also makes it difficult to retrieve things while wearing it, which is one of the things I liked about messenger bags (like purses with laptops in them).

I already had a Timbuk2 commute messenger, so I figured I would be happy with this bag. I got the medium size to use as a camera bag, and it fits the Tenba Laptop insert (not available here, Tenba model #638-251), along with a laptop, perfectly. The bag is quite spacious- the photos don't adequately represent this.

The only downside with this bag versus the commute (which would not fit the Tenba insert) is there are no side pockets for me to stick a water bottle in.

The only thing to take heed of is that the picture has a different color scheme than the bag actually has (for the Dark Brown/Rusty/Dark Brown variation). I was prepared for this because the description of the color is correct. So, I put in a little extra effort and found a pic of a Timbuk2 bag with those colors at Timbuk2's own website. I'm actually happy the colors are not the same as the picture, because I think the colors in the picture are poorly matched.

This is a great messenger bag. I use it almost every day to carry my MacBook Pro 15". I like the design which makes this bag has lot of room with useful pockets inside. One thing I don't like is the shoulder strap pad comes with it. The pad is not very comfortable to use. I just ordered Skooba R730-203 Superbungee Strap which has very good review from others to replace it. No complain other than that. Love the bag!

As with all products like this, I'm sure my rating could change over time with wear and tear. For now though, I'm giving it five stars. Very impressed with the initial quality. This bad expands a little(the never seem to expand all that much)to hold additional items. The stitching seems to be of good quality. Again, time will tell, but for now, good product.

I needed a backpack with wheels as I was a nursing student and couldn't carry all that we needed to carry. I found this online and loved it. It's a nice color, wheels are sturdy and I could drag it practically anywhere. I got a dark color as I was afraid of getting it dirty in the winter, but many pretty colors were offered. The only drawback that I found was that this particular version was a little small in space for all that I needed to cram in it. I am sure, though, that there are others that are roomier but I liked this one, nonetheless :) If my son ever needs one, I would definitely purchase another!

This looked like a nice sturdy back pack for my son. He has CF and is smaller than most kids so he has a real hard time carrying all the books he has in school so I thought this rolling back pack would be great. It has been great, he loves it but he's only had it for 2 weeks and already has worn holes in the bottom, I think it's his fault for trying to roll it the wrong way but...there are holes on both sides already.

Bought this item from amazon because I needed an new garment bag for a weekend trip and this one had the right price tag. After carefully inspecting it I noticed that the build quality was pretty poor and the bag itself was quite large and cumbersome for what is only big enough for a weekend trip. My father has a lot of high quality luggage that he has been using for the past 25 years so he was able to loan me a bag while I sent this one back for a refund. The luggage I got from him cost him a lot more than $35 in 1980 but the fact is that its still in near mint condition and it probably still will be for another 25 years. The hartmann luggage I got from him was all made in the USA and it shows, whereas this bag from china is cheap as can be and won't last more than a year or two. This experience made me really reevaluate my purchasing habits and I'm going to look for more quality american made products rather than throw my money away on disposable goods. I would spend the extra money and look at the Tumi or Hartmann bags that are American made, not all of them still are. Also try looking on ebay, you can get those top quality bags for a price thats pretty close to this clunker, thats what I ended up doing.

I love this suitcase! It's lightweight and expandable. The rubber wheels roll quietly. The handle is nice and tall which was a lifesaver since my husband and I are both tall. Consumer Reports rates this little guy as a best buy and I totally agree. The price was excellent and after 4 flights I'm very pleased with the quality of the purchase as well.

I used this rolly along with the Traveling Toddler Car Seat Travel Accessory and the rolly bag hauled a very full load packed in the bag, along with my Evenflo Triumph car seat and my 30 lb toddler strapped around it AND another Delsey carry-on shoulder bag on top. So I'd say that after 4 flights with this load, that the bag performed wonderfully. It still looks brand new and should last a long time. :)

This luggage is the maximum size for carry-on luggage at Delta and most other airlines. It works well and is very convenient. Unfortunately, the extendable handle makes for wasted space at the bottom of the luggage, and the expandable top wastes space there when the unit is used as a carry-on.

Purchased this for a trip from Pittsburgh to Los Angeles, Ca. I have never been one to be able to fit EVERYTHING into a carry-on for a trip but with this suitcase it was SO easy.

The suitcase is deep and makes it easy to fit everything into it. The look is stylish and sleek and it has cute little "chrome rim wheels"! I loved rolling it through the airports and really loved the shape of it. Plus the price was PERFECT for what you get.

A few cons though:

- The back pocket is SMALL.

- The font pocket zippers are kind of hard to get to.

- The description shows little loop to hook the curve of you hanger through but my bag didn't come with one.

- The handle sticks a bit when you try to grab and extend it fully.

- It gets front heavy and can tip SO easy.

Otherwise I totally LOVE the bag and do recommend it to anyone who needs to travel with a carry-on but is an over packer like me!

I have only had this for a month and only used a couple of times, but so far I am very happy with it. It is spacious for its size, is laid out nicely and has a lot of nice accent features that make it look like a much more expensive suitcase. Too early to tell on how long it will last, but I have no reason to believe it will fail soon.
